Make do, and mend.

This phrase was a cornerstone of my upbringing, following a mindset adopted by my grandmother, who was a seamstress, and continued by my mother. Finding value and use in clothing that at first appears no longer needed brings me a lot of joy, and I hope to continue improving my skills and one day share this joy with others.

Some of my recent makes include:
  • A checked quilted bag from an old table cloth
  • A tie-waistcoat from a shirt I no longer wear
  • A repaired laptop sleeve using sashiko stitch
  • A shoulder bag using a scrap of floral fabric and crocheted outer layer
  • [In progress] A tote bag from a pair of old jeans and skirt I no longer wear
